The wind turbines have transformed the ‘skyline’ of Gloucester. The new view of Gloucester from the end of the breakwater is astonding as they are so much higher than everything else. City Hall and church steeples are dwarfed in comparison. Thank you for this informative time lapse video which summarizes the feat in actually erecting them.

Rigging is always compelling to watch, and this video let’s us view the entire process in five minutes. While it’s difficult to weigh the costs and benefits of the turbines at present, to stand under these guys and see them against a cloudless, blue, blue sky, is to view a work of art as well as engineering.

While driving to work this morning, I noticed the beautiful Gloucester skyline, turbines and all. The turbines give Gloucester a nice sense of “greenness,” which makes many of us proud to call Gloucester, MA our home. Wanting to learn more about the turbines, I did a quick google search and happened upon this video, which shows the construction process for the wind turbine located next to our building.
