A Little Color on a Rainy Day

About Marty Luster

I'm Marty Luster, a retired attorney and politician. In 2010 my wife, mother-in-law, dog and I relocated from Central NY to Gloucester. I hope my photographs and poetry(?) reflect my love for this place and her people. My picture-poem posts can be seen at http://matchedpairs.wordpress.com and selected black and white images can be found at http://slicesoflifeimages.wordpress.com

I have tried to describe to people who have never been lucky enough to have visited Gloucester, the incredible Technicolor shades of Gloucester’s water and sky. I have often used the word ‘neon’. This is an excellent example of what I have tried to describe. Gorgeous! Thank you for sharing!

Makes me think of the quarry at Halibut point? Beautiful shot! Definitely brings a bright reminder for a gloomy day.

  3. Hi Marty, is this photo HDR?

Thx Marty — I like the blue in your original . . . yet your comment is fascinating—- that the photo with the ‘boost’ appears more accurate to what you witnessed. I think each of us sees colors a little differently. At any rate you have a gift for capturing the moment — and I appreciate your sharing your work.

There’s something about each of them I like. The original has earthy tones, and not too much blue. The enhanced version has more detail in the lighter water areas. The red spot there is a bit distracting, but I’ll go with Marty’s pick, because he was there.

  6. Oh wow! That is really cool.
