Our Always Fair and Balanced Lobster Trap Tree Poll and Gloucester’s Lobster Trap Tree Gets A Helping Hand From Our Awesome Fire Department!

Don’t forget to bring your children down to Art Haven to paint a buoy to adorn the tree.  That’s what separates our lobster trap tree from all those horribly disfigured monstrosity lobster trap trees up in Maine that are all built out of simply traps and cheap pre-made ribbons imported from China and manufactured in sweat shops with unfair labor practices.

Compare our Tree decorated with heart felt appreciation for our lobster industry and hard working fishermen by sweet adoring children form the Gloucester Community to the abomination seen below-

Isn’t Provincetown where all the gays are?  I know the gays are better than this, much more creative and artistic.  Be better Provincetown, you’re not representing well here- at all.

vs.

Then you got the terribly disfigured one from Maine where it looks more like a Christmas Spike than a Christmas Tree-

Here we go folks, the third year of our fair and balanced GMG Lobster Trap Tree poll-

When our awesome Fire Department isn’t busy saving folks from horrific fires or rescuing cats from trees they make themselves available to help adorn The World’s Greatest Lobster Trap Tree With the lobster trap wire star that Russell Hobbs and his wife Melissa built back in 2009.

Yesterday was the day that Ed and the Crew from Art Haven strung the lights on the Lobster Trap Tree. Thanks David Brooks for the photos.

The Christmas spirit in this town is beyond belief. And, YES of course, OURS is THE BEST ANYWHERE. Each year the buoys are distinct: different children and others are creating them. Even if some other town decided to be a copy-cat … they wouldn’t be able to duplicate our wonderful works of art. It used to make me sad (before I actually lived here) that I couldn’t see it in person …. but I was thankful that GMG so proudly showed it off. Now I can walk over and gaze to my heart’s content!

  2. Ok, I was born in Gloucester, and I spent a lot of my formative years there. I moved to PTown later and I care about that town just as much. Both places are fishing towns, no one’s trying to compete, so why diss anyone’s tree? The holiday is about being kind to one another. Let’s keep THAT tradition going.

Fair would be to show the tree at night.

WOW! Ok Scrooge!! What the heck is all the name calling and dissing of others decorations? The Popko family decorates our tree every year out of the goodness of their hearts and is decorated with as much thought and love as any other tree. Shame on you Joey C! And the comment “isn’t P-town where all the gays live?” You should be put on administrative leave for discrimination!!! Speaking as a straight woman that lives in Provincetown with children and grand children who also live here. SHAME SHAME SHAME!!

    • Joey C says:

Oh yes that’s right, saying that Gay folks generally have a better sense of artistic ability is definitely discriminatory.

Do you not recognize that people flock to areas where Gays have put down roots because they generally take depressed areas and make them into cultural and artistic and culinary meccas?

Are you saying that’s somehow a slight???

Do you have a problem with Gay people? Sounds like you’re homophobic to me. The shame is on you sista.

How do you sleep at night?

You’re probably against the right for gays to marry too aren’t you? For shame! Love is Love Gay or straight. If I were ever elected to office the first thing I’d fight for is the right for Gays to have every privilege under the law as married folks.

If a guy wants to poke another guy in the butt it’s his business. If a woman wants to dine at the Y, good on her (I can totally relate to lipstick lesbians BTW). I think they’ve totally got the good end of the deal.

For shame Debbie Rios. For Shame!!!!! I suggest you readjust your moral compass Debbie Rios and recognize that your gay compadres down there in PTown are the best thing you’ve got going for you.

      • debbie Rios says:

LOL. Your funny! Way to turn it around. At least stick by the hate you wrote. I sleep just fine BTW. Obviously, I’m not ashamed of anything I said. It’s your bad sir. ROFL Have a good day. :)
