I’m Right! Everybody Else is Wrong. Unless you Agree with Me.

There’s been a lot of Comments on The post: http://goodmorninggloucester.wordpress.com/2012/10/21/what-would-you-like-to-see-fill-the-space-vacated-by-five-guys/

When I first heard that 5guys were going there I didn’t think they had a chance. Burgers and fries and that’s it? They need a bigger choice of menu items. I feel bad for the guys who started that Franchise. They were really energized.

Of course most of these people commenting are wrong. Here are my Thoughts. :)
Japanese? we have Midori’s, Lat 43, the Madfish for raw fish.
Boston Market is on their way out.
I would love a KFC TACO BELL but they don’t have any drive thru options up there.
Indian food may work well in a downtown location but not at GC. WHAT THE HECK IS INDIAN FOOD ANYWAYS? They don’t eat meat, Right?
What the “F” is a Steak and Shake is that the Mad cow disease?
Starbucks? Overpriced burnt coffee.
Average Joe’s? Never been there so I can’t comment.
Bertuccis? We don’t need no stinkin’ fake Italian Restaurant here.
Never heard of Londi’s, Cosi’s and the other’s to comment on.

But most of you are wrong unless you agree with my list below

THERE’S PLENTY OF OPEN STORE FRONTS THERE BESIDES FIVE GUYS TO HAVE A TRADER JOE’S (WHICH I LOVE).
OR A BED BATH AND WHATEVER.

I’D LIKE TO SEE IN THIS ORDER AT THE 5GUYS STORE;
1. Qudoba
2. Panera Bread
3. KFC/TACO BELL

and of Course Fred ,Sista Felicia’s Restaurant would a be a great addition to The West End.
GC Is too mall like for the kind of food Felicia cooks. Her place needs charm to go with that food.

Why does it have to be a food place to replace Five Guys? There are plenty of good food places already in Gloucester.

I’m totally with Joey on this one- a local coffee shop with fresh and inviting sandwiches and pastries.

  3. Mark P says:

Qudoba is fake Mexican. We have Tacos Lupita, Jalapenos and the Happy Taco truck that shows up when they have gas money.

Um, seriously…Are you really asking what is Indian food? And no, they are NOT all vegetarians! Indian food includes some really lovely lamb, chicken, beef and seafood dishes and it is REALLY yummy. I’m tired of having to go to Beverly for Indian but I don’t think it is right for that location. Panera would be a great option!

    • Thanks Rebecca! I always thought they were all vegetarians. My Wife and I went to a Indian Traditional Dance recital Years ago when she worked for some great Indian Doctors based in Beverly. It was all Vegetarian no meat at all.
      Thanks for the Info.

      • Rebecca S. says:

A lot of Indians are vegetarian but not all. Plus, like Chinese restaurants, many Indian restaurants have adapted their food to Western tastes (although there are some very good authentic vegetarian restaurants out there but none of them on the North Shore as far as I know).

ANYTHING but another sticking chain restauarant, they are the bane of America.

  6. donnapoco says:

I’ve heard others suggest a Trader Joe’s but there’s probably a non-compete clause for Market Basket (groceries) and liquor (Cape Ann Liquors).

  7. Bill Hubbard says:

Panera would be great. We have one nearby down here and love it. Trader Joes I shopped when I lived on the other Cape the four years before moving south. Nothing like it around here. As a once native recent visitor, you don’t really need another fast food place in Gloucester.

One word…am I am right by the way – CHIPOTLE.

  9. Sarah Jane says:

I second the defense of Indian food — it’s my and my husband’s absolute favorite. Do me a favor, go to Shanti in Dorchester just once. It will Change. Your. Life.

    • Hi Sarah,
I’m sure a Indian Restaurant would do good here in Gloucester. But not at a cold Mall like atmosphere. The Vegetarian flavors we had were awesome. I would love to have them with Chicken or Meat. GC IS A MALL! Franchises like Panera would do great there.
of course just my not so humble opinion. :)

      • Rebecca S. says:

I agree, an Indian restaurant needs a more cozy atmosphere. Paul, if you want to try Indian food with meat you should go to Anmol in Beverly on Rantoul St. If you like lamb and a little spicy then the Rogan Josh is really good. Anyway, I agree with the mall atmosphere and a franchise restaurant. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Wendy’s there either.

Why chains? Most of the profits go off island. Howz about raizing them and restoring Dogtown, piece by piece, as all these BS places FAIL?

  11. Anonymous says:

Panera bread, Trader Joe’s, Bed Bath and Beyond, AC Moore, Michaels, How about a Walmart on the other side of land

  12. Lisa says:

Why do you all think it needs to be a place for food? I personally think a drug store up there would be awesome! I’m tired of having to drive someplace else after food shopping. And please , how about a mailbox? That would be a triple header up there! Food, drugstore and mail drop! Getting to the beach earlier would be great!

  13. Gail Guittarr says:

How about a Hallmark Store. Books, cards, gifts, etc.

  14. love reigns says:

A DSW shoe store or Barnes and Noble!
