New lighting in Gloucester City Hall Photo From Maggie Rosa

Work in progress!

National Grid has worked with the City to provide new lighting for City Hall’s Kyrouz Auditorium – the lighting fixtures are on the left, the old on the right.

In addition, the lighting for the Build Not For Today Alone but for Tomorrow As Well WPA mural has been replaced.

Staging on the ventilators will be coming down this week or next. Get your cameras ready!

In the time I worked as City Hall Custodian I changed the 300 Watt bulbs a lot. Above the Fred Kyrouz Chambers each light has a crank to turn to lower the light. It takes 100 turns to lower it,then you go down clean the fixture and replace the bulb. The process takes about 30 to 45 minutes for each bulb,I would have to use a flashlight to find the crank.
It was also my privaledge to have written and read a dedication poem for the new Exterior Lighting of City Hall. Sadly I have lost that dedication poem, but it was an honor to have been on the Dale Ave. steps with Mr Spittle and my friend Bob Kramer of Bobs Habidashery. I also had the distinct honor of ring the bell for the Late & Great Fred Kyrouz. I am thinking of doing my own autobiography and poems, so that some of my history is kept. There is very little record of all the poems I have written .
