Thank you Tyler and Domenic – Cape Ann SUP Rocks!

I have long wanted to try stand up paddleboarding.  I ran into Tyler a week or so ago and told him again that I wanted to try to carve out a time to go out on one before summer was over.  He said that he would be happy to do a Rocky Neck demo session.  Yesterday from 4:00-6:00, Cape Ann SUP co-owners, Tyler Knight and Dominic Olivo, came to Rocky Neck with a bunch of paddleboards so Rocky Neckers could try it out.  It was too bad that more people didn’t turn out, as there were plenty of boards and it was such a gorgeous afternoon, warm air and water with smooth waters at Oaks Cove where we went out.  I definitely want to try going out at night now on one of those lit up boards, although with my night blindness, I might crash into something.  If you haven’t tried paddleboarding, you owe it to yourself to get in touch with Tyler or Domenic and go out before it gets too cold.

About E.J.

Artist, researcher, spiritual traveler of this fascinating orb we inhabit, lover of life and all it has to offer. Hi everyone out there in GMG land. My name is Ellen “E.J.” Lefavour (a/k/a “Ejay Khan” – the pseudonym I used during my years as a political activist artist). I am a newcomer to Cape Ann, and thrilled to be a new contributor to Good Morning Gloucester. I am a painter and photographer who has lived and worked as an artist for 20 years, since leaving the corporate world in 1990 to pursue my passion. My contributions to GMG will consist of images (either my paintings, photographs, or the occasional video) and a little history about the image, called “Did you Know?” I hope to come up with tidbits of information that people don’t already know, or had forgotten they knew. As I am new here, everything is new and fascinating to me, especially the amazing history, so bear with me if I post something that is common knowledge – I’ll eventually come up with something that’s new to you. Please take a minute to comment on my posts, like them or not, especially if you have corrections or something to add, as that is how I, and all of us, learn. Have a Good Morning Gloucester, and a blessed day.

Thumbs up for CapeAnn SUP! Went with my nephew a few weeks ago in Essex. Great scenery. Sadly, I fell several times. It was a lot of fun and Dominic was a great guide.

And truthfully Rich, wasn’t even the falling off part fun? I kinda wanted to fall off just to get wet and climb back on the board again.

  2. It is so much fun and they are terrific..

  3. now talk them into a night demo. That must be wild paddling around with the water lit up underneath you.

I definitely want to do a night paddle. When I was young I surfed at night with the phosphorescence below, and I think it would be something like that, only without the waves.

Love Brenda and Cape Ann Sup, the other day someone was telling all about how a group was keeping Pavillion clean, I said” Thats’s Tyler and Cape Ann Sup doing all that wonderful work.” Keep up the great work….. Thanks for helping us to “Keep Our Home Port Clean” .
