THACHER ISLAND ART & PHOTO DAYS

Artists are invited to create on Thacher Island!  This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy Thacher Island with its twin lighthouses and restored structures, visit the museum, and wander the trails, to draw, paint, and photograph as you wish.

The annual Art & Photo Days are happening soon!  Reserve your spot as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!

WHEN:
Wednesday August 1 (rain date Aug. 8)  and
Saturday August 4  (rain date Aug. 11)

Boats leave T-Wharf near the Sandy Bay Yacht Club
at 4 am, 8 am, 9 am, and 10 am each day.

The 4 am sunrise groups will be back on the mainland by 8 am.  The later trips will leave the island at 1 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm respectively.

Bring your art supplies, lunch, and whatever you need (sunscreen, bug spray, etc) to be comfortable outdoors.  Transportation and beverages will be provided by the Thacher Island Town Committee and the Thacher Island Association.

A $25 donation is requested.  This is a fundraiser by the Thacher Island Association for the restoration and maintenance of Thacher Island and its facilities.

To make reservations call 978-546-2250.

Personally, I missed this last year and don’t intend to miss it again this year.  Hope to see you on the boat or on Thacher Island.  EJ

About E.J.

Artist, researcher, spiritual traveler of this fascinating orb we inhabit, lover of life and all it has to offer. Hi everyone out there in GMG land. My name is Ellen “E.J.” Lefavour (a/k/a “Ejay Khan” – the pseudonym I used during my years as a political activist artist). I am a newcomer to Cape Ann, and thrilled to be a new contributor to Good Morning Gloucester. I am a painter and photographer who has lived and worked as an artist for 20 years, since leaving the corporate world in 1990 to pursue my passion. My contributions to GMG will consist of images (either my paintings, photographs, or the occasional video) and a little history about the image, called “Did you Know?” I hope to come up with tidbits of information that people don’t already know, or had forgotten they knew. As I am new here, everything is new and fascinating to me, especially the amazing history, so bear with me if I post something that is common knowledge – I’ll eventually come up with something that’s new to you. Please take a minute to comment on my posts, like them or not, especially if you have corrections or something to add, as that is how I, and all of us, learn. Have a Good Morning Gloucester, and a blessed day.

  1. Welcome E.J. I look forward to seeing your blogs, artistry and video clips. I am back to living on Cape Ann after living “up the line” for 20 years. There are so many new things to experience and so many historical places I vow to visit this time around.

I, too, will soon be ready to write my thoughts and ideas in print, try my hand at some art and meet many interesting people at as many events as possible.

I hope we have a chance to meet face to face someday.

Best wishes in all your endeavors.

    Regards,

    Denise Penta

Welcome back Denise. You must be thrilled to be back on Cape Ann. Come to a Mug Up some Sunday morning at Rocky Neck – it is a great opportunity to meet some really nice GMG contributors and friends of the blog. Best, EJ

Not only do I want to do this, I need to do this!
Thanks for sharing the info EJ!
