About Joanne
I am a live music advocate and seek to share the news of bands playing at local venues in my home town. Being drawn to blues mostly but embrace all kinds of music. Funny most people say they do not like rap but I have heard some pretty good stuff from a local band called Da One 8 now know as The Dmus Sound Project. They are a class act. If you see a posting for them check them out and see for yourself. One does not have to go over the bridge to hear some real fine tunes, however there are some bands that draw you elsewhere. I hope this blog is a good use to you as it is to me.
Enjoy,
Joanne
What will be lost if the rich and the greedy destroy our working waterfront. What The Fort, and the fisheries stand for! Viva!
I have no idea how people say the people who would put a hotel at Birdseye would destroy the working waterfront when the very same group has embraced the pumping of herring, the tying up of fishing boats, the brining of cranes on their property so that the schooners that need mast work done can pull their masts and work on them, the Cruise ships land passengers via tenders and ships dock there and the LNG Tugs and supply ships load and offload and store heavy industrial equipment on the very same dock where people dine al fresco. Cruiseport.
These people have more marine industrial activity on their site than was before they bought it but somehow that gets translated into these people are hellbent on “destroying our working waterfront” Phooey.
I’m not exactly sure how a hotel at that site destroys that neighborhood. Is it the better sidewalks that will be installed? The better lighting that will be installed? The fixed up building that will destroy the neighborhood? The greenscaping that will happen? Yeah those will definitely destroy that neighborhood.
I’m asking folks to leave the Fort and hotel discussion to the online message boards and not GMG. If you notice I haven’t posted anything about it since the Jimmy T discussion and I’d appreciate if our other contributors did likewise.
Thank you.
Joey, the play depicts the strong women who have helped shape Gloucester. It is not a political stance on the hotel project. If you get a chance to see “Six Pair of Hands”, you’ll see what I’m talking about. It’s an amazing play.
HI Sharon.
Joey was talking about the comment by “Faccia di Carne” on the post, not the Play. Wish we had time to see it.
I’m sure its a fantastic play. As I stated before, because I don’t want GMG being overrun with pro and against comments I ask people bring their comments on The Fort project to Cape Ann Online or the Gloucester Times .
