I stumbled upon this throne carved out of a tree in Annisquam. Has anyone ever seen this before, know who carved it, or how long it has been there? I envision a forest gnome king holding court there at night surrounded by tree nymphs.

EJ, is this something you can see from the river.
Hi Anita, It is actually along the edge of the pasture leading down to Annisquam Beach. You wouldn’t be able to see it from the river. I’ve walked by it hundreds of times and had never noticed it before.
Hi E.J., Does anyone have any idea how old it is?
So cool.
fascinating….amazing the tree lived…
I don’t know, Anita. I was hoping some longtime Squammer might know and write in about it. Then again, maybe I’m the only one who sees a forest gnome king’s throne and no one else has ever noticed it.
Fantastic! A great find. I want to get a picture of myself sitting there…
Anytime you want to come to Annisquam I’ll show you where it is, and take your picture sitting on it.

Now that will be a good picture, and I will be on the island in June. I will contact you when I get there.
Anita
Hi Anita – Look forward to seeing you and June!
