These kids are from the Outward Bound program at Thomson Island in Boston Harbor. They do not spend a whole lot of time on the boats for rowing practice and they sail most of the time that they are on board. The day before they moored off the fish pier I saw them anchored just inside the bar at Crane’s Beach. Often the boats go from Boston to Maine and back with a crew. They always spend some time touring the Heritage Center when they stop in Gloucester and when I was there I was in charge of showing them around Gloucester. I have a lot of respect for the program.
Thanks for the added info Damon!
You are welcome. By the way those are mostly inner city Boston kids and this is likely the first time most of them have been on the water.
