Bodum Travel Press Demo

Plagued By Mechanical Coffee Maker Malfunctions I Turn To The Bodum Travel Press For My Coffee Needs-Here’s A Demonstration Of The Bodum Travel French Press At The Dock

The thing about a french press is that by not having the paper filter you get a richness and you can see tiny pools of the coffee oils once you pour your coffee from the press into your mug.  A paper filter removes these oils and robs you of the best cup of coffee possible.

I’m really enjoying it.  If you do get a french press or travel press be sure to grind your coffee on the coarser side so you don’t get the sediment that would go through the screen with a fine grind. If you are having your coffee ground be sure to let the person grinding it know what type of device you will be using to prepare your coffee so they will grind it to the proper coarseness(is that a word?).

  1. Interesting machine, first time I’ve seen one.
Glad to see you can finally have your coffee in the morning.

A different version for those that don’t like dealing with the spent grounds in the bottom of the press is the “Aerobie AeroPress”. Just like a french press but without the mess. Not sure how well it would work on your styrofoam cup, though…. see http://www.aerobie.com/Products/aeropress.htm for more info.

Hedgie, you know what I’m thinking? I’m thinking that because that aero press uses the paper filter that you would lose the oils that I think give the pressed coffee that richness and smooth flavor.

Its a good concept but strangely I don’t mind a little or the grinds in my coffee. But I eat chocolate covered coffee beans so maybe I’m used to eating roasted coffee means.

Just had to tell you. I clicked on the Flickr photos at the bottom of the page. I think that the Stanley Thomas is one of the nicest boats around. I use to love the Belinda B also. And thanks for posting The Red Baron. Glen is one hell of guy. Gotta love those boats.
